What a Trip

I don't know why I thought I could resist in making this quilt. I tried talking myself out of it, then saw a bunch of amazing photos on Flickr. And that was the end of talking myself out of it, I had to have one for myself. And, the best part is-I purchased ZERO new fabric for this quilt. I had been hording Fat Quarters, and some yardage for about 2 years now and this was the perfect way to use them.

I fall in love with a fabric, and then horde it because I don't ever want to cut into it. But this quilt was the perfect way to cut into my favorites and have them all in one place.

I may start the quilting today, but can't decide on the best way to quilt it. Any idea? I'm way open to suggestions.

Tilt-A-Whirl

Hey all,

It's my month for the Simply Solids Bee, and I choose Fresh Lemon Quilts Tilt-A-Whirl. I love the way it looks with the prints, but love it even more in solids!

It was my first go at paper-piecing and I couldn't have asked for a better starting project. It was super easy after I realized to do everything backwards, but it was a fun time. I used this tutorial,.

I've put together a little tutorial for all my bee's that haven't tried this method, and let's be honest, so I can remember how to do this again in the future.Get ready for a TON of pictures!

1st I marked my pieces with the colors (because I get confused easily)

Then I started with 1A (light pink)I pinned it into place
Next I added 2A (Kona Snow)making sure I used 1/4 seam allowance.
This is what the back look like, this is where it gets a little confusing. So I'll let the pictures do the talking:
Sew on the line, turn over and press:

I saved the trimming on the seam allowance for last, to make sure I was good on fabric.

Then I added 3A (Kona Snow)
Sew on the line again, flip, press, trim and remove the paper template!

Tip for the perfect 1/4 seam allowance, hold it up toward a light/window.

I completed 3 more blocks like this, and 4 of template B just the same way and this is what I came up with

Again, I had lots of help on templates from Fresh Lemon Quilts-and this may not be perfect, but it is the way that worked for me.
