A finish: Scrappy Trips Quilt

This quilt has been done for about a week now, and I finally had the chance to photograph the beauty!

I quilted it using wavy lines down each row, and bound it using a lime green, and a purple I had left over from previous quilts. I found it fitting for a scrappy quilt.

I really want to make another one-but am trying to hold off. I have other projects in mind that I also am really truly in love with. But, we'll see!

Scrappy Trip Quilt, loving the binding

A few things I learned during my 'trip':

1. Don't be afraid to just go 'wing' it. I chose to go scrappy, with no plan. This is super hard for me to do, I am usually very diligent about placement of fabrics and patterns. This time I only pulled a different fabric if it was already in use. And the outcome was amazing-I will do it again in a heartbeat.

2. I pressed my seams open, I don't know if I will do that again. While I like that I was able to match seams up easily, I feel like it took some of the reinforcement away.

3. Use a million more pins to baste. I thought I did a pretty good job at pulling tight all the layers, but I had a few puckers in places. Next time-I will be better, I promise!
