WIP Wednesday

I can't believe it's Wednesday already, Not sure what I have been doing this week.

Currently, I'm slicing into some pretty fabric for my next quilt. This quilt is going to be a gift for my Grandma Fekete, for Mother's Day. The fabric reminds me of her. Soft and bold, calming and beautiful. I hope she likes it. I got this bundle about a year ago with Grandma in mind-but I was too scared to cut into it.

Another Scrappy Trip Quilt
So, today I decided to cut into these fabrics. My plans for these pretties is a Scrappy Trip quilt, however I'm a little scared about the brown fabrics, but I have faith they will blend in perfectly.

I'm committed!

This morning I cut 85 out of the 120 strips I need for the quilt. I'm hoping to have all of the strips cut tonight so that I can start sewing the blocks together by tonight. Wish me luck!

Is it Spring yet?

No, it's not spring quite yet-but it is in my bedroom! After I picked up the 'Big City Quilt' from Cathy, I bound, washed, and dried it to crinkly goodness in record time. It's been on our bed ever since reminding me that spring is around the corner.

The pattern was super easy to follow and the scraps leftover were all turned into HST's during the process! I used some of the 2.5 HST's to make two super cute pillow covers for our bed, and I couldn't be happier with the results.

New Pillow Covers for our Bed
I need to be better at taking pictures of the 'process' but until then, you can see my pretty outcomes ;)

The pillows are quilted in simple straight lines following the arrows, and used an envelope closures for the back. These pillows came together quickly, they were both whipped up on a rainy/snowy Sunday afternoon.

Every time I walk, or skip, into our bedroom it feels like spring, and I love it. The colors are bright, fresh and cheery- what a great way to get through these winter blues.

Getting Acquainted Monday

Plum and June

I'm super excited about this link up with Plum and June. Today it is hosted by Janice at Better off Thread. This is my first time linking up, I'm hoping to get more acquainted with other amazing blogging women out there, and learning so much from them.

I whipped up this cute pillow, using some 3.5in scraps-and used a simple envelope back. Easiest pillow ever! I shadow quilted each seam with a 1/4in on all sides.

Scrappy Pilow
My sewing room was looking a little drab, and these squares make the room so much brighter! I have a sofa in there and the quilty cat loves to lay all over it, and now he has something pretty to love on.

I can see many more of these easy pillows in my future!

Hop on over to Better Off Thread, and check out the other great bloggers!

Granny Block Bee

I joined the Granny Block Bee on Flickr (of course). Each month We make 2 blocks for our queen bees. The best part of this Bee is that we are all working from our scraps, score! Getting to use my favorite fabrics and sharing them with others.

The first blocks are for Kelli. She asked us to do our own thing! And here's what I came up with.  I love those little deer! They are my favorite and I'm glad they are going to a great home :) Enjoy Kelli!

The blocks I made for Anne were a little difficult for me-she asked for colors that remind us of fall, and I didn't have too much in my stash, I'm not much of one for browns, creams or reds-but I'm trying so luckly I had some in my stash. Hope you like them Anne :).

This bee has been so much fun, this is the first month. I love the look of the block, they are super simple to make and have such a different look! Can't wait to make more.
